This tradition has been documented by great sages in such treatises as Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Siva Samhita and Gheranda Samhita from the middle centuries. There is also documented descriptions of yoga asana and pranayama from the 9th Century when many Tantric and Hatha yoga teachings were brought to Tibet.

Study of the Vedas brings the student to the source of the science and philosophy of Yoga. The trditional method of imparting this knowledge is followed : the teacher chants the text and the students repeat until the correct pronounciation and intonation are achieved.
